Ideally, you should photograph your pet at eye level rather than from above, with the subject filling the picture. If you would like a whole body portrait the feet must be clearly visible (not hidden in the grass or snow). Try not to use the digital zoom on your camera as this results in a less sharp image.

I prefer to work from a selection of photos, but I can make do with only one if necessary.
